A Happy New Year from everybody at SCUK! Less than three weeks to the SCUK Winter Bash 09 and you are officially allowed to get excited now. Woooooooooo!!!!

A report out today reveals that considerably less news happens over Christmas. And the main points of the news again... no news over Christmas claims report.

We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and snowy New Year from all of us here at SCUK - Dunx, Stu, Spencer, Jess and all the forum moderators.

The SCUK office is closed from Christmas Eve right through to Monday 5th January. Jess will be processing outstanding membership applications then.

The SCUK geek is also offline for the duration. If there's any real emergencies, then please contact either ROBster or charliebuoy via PM or the forum and they can contact Dunx by phone if necessary.

SCUK members can take advantage of a great offer from Titan Snow and the great snow out in Les Deux Alpes.

Titan Lodge has had a facelift including new floors and redecoration throughout all the bedrooms. This coming season they can cater for up to 14 people across 5 rooms. The chalet can still be booked exclusively for bookings of 10 and above or on a shared basis for smaller groups.

They can now also offer Saturday and Sunday transfers from any local airport with prices from 40 GBP per person.

The backside 180 is one of the most relaxed and best feeling tricks in the book. That being said, it is quite a tough trick to get right. James Streater takes the next freestyle class right here on SCUK.

The White Room is a chalet company based in Sainte Foy, France, home of legendary backcountry riding and endless, untracked powder. Our chalet has ride-to-door access and is two-minutes walk from the resort centre. We offer catered holidays and our prices include all the wine, beer and cake you can handle. We're both snowboarders and can't get enough of the riding in Sainte Foy, but we also include 2 days riding at Tignes, Val d'Isere, Les Arcs or La Rosiere if you just need to track more mountains. They're so close, it would be rude not to!

Our chalet has a mix of accommodation, which means we're able to offer rooms to single riders without any supplements and we have some cheap, cheap, cheap bunks for those who are scratching out their third trip of the winter. Base Camp, the adventure training specialist, has a few last beds left in its Seasonal Accommodation properties.

Base Camp supply Seasonal Accommodation lets in the resorts of Val d'Isere, Meribel, Tignes and Verbier in Europe as well as Banff and Whistler in Canada. Apartments and Chalets range from sleeping 4 – 20 pax in a combination of studios, bunks, twin rooms as well as queens and kings.

Base Camp Director Fergie Miller explains;

‘Whilst in the past Ski and Snowboard Instructor Courses were more popular for their intensive training and fast track nature, Seasonal Accommodation Lets are now more affordable while allowing clients to work, ski and snowboard (or a combination of both) as they wish.’

Seasonal lets start from £2,875 for a bed in a 4 person flat for 5 months in the centre of Meribel. This includes all pre-departure and in-resort support, utility bills such as heating and electricity as well as bed linen.

Here in Chamonix we are having the best start to the winter in 10 years. With a snow base already at 150cm at 2800m everyone is very excited even this early in the season.

We hope you're all in agreement that we at SCUK value our members. That's why, unimpressed with the recent measly reduction in VAT, we have decided to trump HMRC's 2.5% offering.
