SNO!zone Milton Keynes

The Milton Keynes Snozone is situated about 10 minutes from junction 14 of the M1. You can see the Xscape complex that houses the slope from the M1 and the building dominates the skyline for miles around. The slope eventually opened on 2nd October 2000 after some considerable delay and offers the longest slope and arguably the best indoor snow in the UK.

There are two main slopes. The park slope during the summer months turns into a half decent snowboard park. During the winter the punters and lessons are packed in, making the slope very busy sometimes.

Snow is produced by 16 snow guns using a system developed by Acer Snowmec of Birmingham. Pressurised air is forced through chilled water to produce a fine mist which freezes to form real snow crystals. The snow is deep and soft and kept frozen by a mean air temperature of -2°C and eight miles of under-snow cooling pipes. The slope is maintained by daily grooming using a mini deisel Kassborrer Pistebully which lurks in the garage at the bottom of the Lesson Slope.

Opening Times

There is a four hour freestyle session available on Thursday and Friday nights between 7pm and 11pm. The first Saturday in every month will have a five hour freestyle session called "Park Strife". All of these sessions cost £35.

Equipment Hire

Hire of Snozone's ski/board equipment is included in the entry price. Helmets are freely available and must be worn by juniors, anybody involved in competitive racing and anybody using the jumps. Clothing is separately available for a small fee. You pay for your clothing hire at reception and pick it up from Ellis Brigham's Sno Clobber beyond the slope reception near the changing area. Gloves are avialable for purchase at reception - £10 adults, £5 children. You'll also need a £1 coin if you want to use their lockers. You get the coin back.

Other Facilities

The slope is overlooked by the bar/restaurant and the Esporta gymnasium.

The Xscape complex also contains restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, multiplex cinema and a climbing wall.
